Ain't Gonna Happen

by Tom Wise

Newsflash!
Daffy Qaddafi is on the run. Barack Obama (the Nobel Peace Prize winner) is taking "due" credit, at the same time taking a "well-deserved" vacation in Martha's Vineyard (he's regulating her harvest and redistributing accordingly). It looks increasingly as if Mr. Obama may be a rare doppelganger and odds-on fave for another Nobel Prize (he may demand a different one this time, perhaps for economics).

I was tenderizing my steak and enjoying a salad simultaneously when I realized that Obama has saved us all from the world menace from Libya. I suppose it's because I was oblivious, and Qaddafi's regime didn't consume me night and day. But now that the "rebels" are occupying the Tripoli town square, I'm relieved. So this means Obama gets my vote, right?

Sure.

That Libya is "free" doesn't interest me. They are, of course, not free or going to be. The tens of billions in oil coffers will be used for arms, not food or infrastructure. This is the way of Africa, even North Africa. Do you think Algeria, Tunisia, or Egypt fare much better? This is also the way of the Muslim Brotherhood. Oh, sorry. Did I not mention that the "freedom fighters" in Libya are mainly socialist Arabs? Yep. And Italy and France will likely bicker over who gets to control the area, which will possibly lead to worse relations than before.

But even if Libya worked out just dandy (forget about Iraq like a bad dream, will ya, please), how is this an American achievement? How does it qualify as a war? Answer: it doesn't. Therefore, no credit. It's a NATO offensive. Mr. Obama can strut on his posture but that's about it.

Now that Libya is solved (or is it?), Syria and Sudan will fall right into line. Surely, the economic principles at work in Greece and Spain will subside. Certainly, we can now print more stimulus dollars with no backfires. Well, yes, of course. We're getting plenty o' gold and oil from Libya and Iraq, and from others we've "helped." What? We're not? Never mind.

So here I am, holding my two-prong fork and wearing my steak-eatin' clothes, but I seem to have lost my verve for the moment. Tomorrow will still be a day closer to the collapse of the dollar, if not civilization.

So I guess I won't be votin' for Obama after all. Not that I would anyway. You have to like a guy to vote for him. And I hate that guy. That smug, arrogant, elitist, socialist, communist... guy. I suppose I'm not alone in this. Despite the fact that TV and radio blabbermouths will say that Obama gained election mojo by this "victory," I don't see him winning anyone over. Peaceniks? Please. War hawks? Right. Fiscal conservatives? Nope. Constitutionalists? No, only acolytes and leeches and the ignorant. Hmmmm. We might be in trouble after all.
